Traditional Vietnamese soup made of clear stock, rice vermicelli, served with tomato broth and topped with minced freshwater crab or shrimp paste.

Be aware that there are several varieties of bún riêu, including bún riêu cua (minced crab), bún riêu cá (fish) and bún riêu ốc (snail).

Surprisingly it doesn’t taste fishy or “craby”, nicely balanced noodle soup. I had it couple of times while living in Saigon. My favourite place was that small corner seller next to Thao Dien Pearl (next to a pet shop). Not sure if the place is still there or not.
